10 Rats go to Poulsbo for KISS 2026 race

On Sunday, Aug. 2, 10 RIRSC rowers along with two supporters (Kim and Karen’s spouses) went to Liberty Bay in Poulsbo to row in the annual Kitsap Invitational Summer Scrimmage (KISS) regatta. We took two quads (John Collins, Buckley), and two of our rowers participated in the Ham ‘N’ Egg races (where people are just put into boats).

The crews were:

Buckley: Sally (cox), Kim, Janet P, and Noah (stroke)

John Collins: Paul (cox), Peggy, Ted, and Karen K-M (stroke)

Mari and Aimee M participated as Ham ‘n’ Eggers.

Although there were some passing rain showers, the water was flat calm and conditions were excellent. The Kitsap rowing club ran a well-organized race followed by a delicious potluck brunch.

Aimee’s 8+ crew had the best overall time (20:17), just barely beating perennial favorite Eric in his single. Our quads did very well, with the Collins coming in at 21:59 and the Buckley at 22:42. Full results posted below.
